These Floridians thought they could swim through Hurricane Ian… but they were wrong!


wooMost parts of the state of Florida were sheltered or abandoned further territory. Hurricane Ian Hitting the shoreline, there were some who decided to risk their lives to swim through the huge waves caused by the storm.

Several videos have surfaced on social media of Floridians who thought they could swim through Hurricane Ian, but which were quickly proven wrong.

A video showed swimmers being thrown from the waves near a pier in Fort Meyers, an area where residents were told to evacuate.

Local journalists shared these videos with warnings about how dangerous it was and the problems it could cause to emergency services.

“Don’t do that, people are swimming at Fort Myers Beach by the pier and I can’t stress enough how dangerous it is,” NBC said Brenna WeekFor example.

Such was the shock on Tuesday when a man shared a video in which he was seen trying to sail his boat amid strong waves.

“I had to make sure my floating house didn’t spoil it,” said the Miami resident.

How bad is Hurricane Ian?

This reckless behavior garnered such criticism because Hurricane Ian may have been one of the worst hurricanes to affect Florida.

It has already cut power and it is raining more than a foot in some areas.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis asked the president Joe Biden To approve a major disaster declaration for all 67 counties in the state of Florida.

It also wants FEMA to pay for costs associated with debris removal and other emergency protective measures for at least the first 60 days after this natural disaster.

It’s not over yet, but in the meantime Florida officials are urging people to stay indoors and in safer places if they haven’t been evacuated yet. And definitely don’t have to go to the pier to go for a swim.
