According to the affidavit of arrest, the young girl told police that she was dropped off at school that morning by her mother and was sitting on the stairs of the school, when Gettler came up to her and asked her if she went to school, received by people,
The girl told police that Gettler allegedly followed her and then went up the stairs she was sitting on.
“The man made her feel uncomfortable, so she stood up as he was going down the stairs,” the affidavit said. “The man caught [her] At this point, in a way she described him as wrapping her hands and arms around his waist from behind.
According to the arresting document, when the girl screamed, Gettler covered her mouth with her hands.
She fought back, and pulled down Getler’s face mask, which investigators said was “scary” and caused her to flee.
Surveillance footage obtained by police purportedly showed Getler parking a damaged gray Saturn aura near the school before attempting to kidnap the girl. Later footage shows him running back to his car and going to the passenger’s side door before driving.
Later that day, the police free Images from the footage purportedly show Getler and his car.
On 26 September, Getler’s parents went to the Thornton Police Station and told detectives that they believed the suspect was their son “based on photographs from surveillance released, as well as the uniqueness of the suspect’s vehicle in the case.” His vehicle matching the specifications, the affidavit said.

Detectives determined that Gettler’s cellphone was also in the area at the time of the kidnapping attempt.
He was arrested outside a Home Depot in Parker on September 26 and booked into the Adams County Jail. People told that he has to appear in court on October 5.
