A teenage girl’s officers originally believed she was abducted by her father before the two were killed in a shootout with California police, police said Wednesday.
Anthony Graziano and his daughter, Savannah Graziano, were living together outside the father’s pickup truck and hotels before the fatal shooting on Interstate 15 in Hesperia on Tuesday, according to officials.
“Did she go voluntarily?” Fontana Sargent Christian Surgeon told the Associated Press. “Or was he actually kidnapped? We just haven’t been able to prove it.”
Tuesday’s shooting took place when Anthony Graziano was on Monday morning for the alleged murder of his estranged wife, Tracy Martinez, near an elementary school during a drop off.
He fled the scene with the Savannah in a Nissan Frontier and was issued an Amber Alert warning that the Graziano was armed and dangerous.
Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dickus said there was “some indication” that Savannah was shooting at the deputy during Tuesday’s police chase, but did not elaborate.
There is a video of the fatal incident taken from the police which is being reviewed.
Police believe that Savannah was living with her father when he was camping in the desert and mountains in his truck.
Graziano and Martinez were going through a divorce, the surgeon said. The younger brother of the teenager was living with his mother.
