Florida police intercept 87 pounds of marijuana at UPS facility

Florida law enforcement officers arrested two suspects this week after intercepting packages containing 87 pounds of marijuana at a UPS in a St. Petersburg suburb last year, according to reports.

According to court records, 41-year-old Benny Neely was arrested on Wednesday on charges of smuggling cannabis, a first-degree felony and importing marijuana.

Corey Jovan Brown, 38, was also arrested on Friday on the same charge.

According to the WFLA, police originally found two large boxes containing 87 pounds of “marijuana plant material” at a UPS location in Pinellas Park on February 13, 2021.

According to local news outlets, two people were identified as suspects through the tracking numbers on the shipment.

As per court records, both the suspects have been released on bond.
