BSF Recruitment Selection Process 2022

The selection will take place in two phases:

(a) first stage

(i) Written Examination

The online written test will be a composite paper of objective type with multiple options to answer on one OMR answer sheet. The written test will consist of the following subjects:

(b) second stage

Candidates declared ‘qualified’ in the written test (1st stage) will appear in the second selection stage at Water Wing establishments as decided by HQ DG BSF. The stages of the second selection stage exam will be as follows:

(i) Documentation

Candidates must submit original copies of all documents to confirm their eligibility for the post applied for. Documents/certificates of the candidates will be scrutinized/ scrutinized by the Selection Board to assess their eligibility with regard to age, educational qualification, technical qualification, experience, caste, relaxation in PST etc.

(ii) physical measurement

Physical measurement will be done by the Selection Board to assess the height, weight and chest of the candidates as per the prescribed physical standards.

(iii) Physical Efficiency Test

Candidates need to qualify the following events:

Comment: Ex-Servicemen candidates are not required to undergo Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Ex-Servicemen candidates are required to complete the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) prescribed for the post applied for. However, all Ex-Servicemen candidates are required to qualify the Written Test, Documentation, Trade Test and Medical Examination.

(iv) Trade Test

Trade Test for each post will be conducted by the Selection Board to assess the candidate’s knowledge and experience in the relevant technical field or trade applied for by the candidate. Swimming Test for the post of CT (Crew) will also be conducted by the Selection Board. The candidates must be well versed in every practical aspect of their applied trade and must have passed the prescribed criteria of the trade examination conducted by the Selection Board.

(v) Medical Examination

Candidates qualifying in all the above selection stages of recruitment will be subjected to Detailed Medical Examination (DME) as per revised Uniform Guidelines to assess their fitness for appointment in BSF as per prescribed standard. The Detailed Medical Examination (DME) will be conducted immediately after the completion of the Trade Test at the respective centres.

Candidates found medically ‘unfit’ during the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) will be allowed to undergo Review Medical Examination (RME) on the next day, provided that the ineligible candidates will have to give their written consent addressed to the Presiding Officer. To undergo Recruitment Board Review Medical Examination (RME), by enclosing their signature, as per the format given in Annexure- ‘J’ (See Notification PDF)

final merit list

After the completion of the first and second selection stages, the merit list (post-wise, trade-wise and category-wise) will be prepared separately on the basis of marks obtained/obtained by the candidates in the written examination. The list of finally selected candidates will be published on the official website of BSF.

In cases of Tie in Marks, the cases of Tie will be resolved in the following manner:

(i) The older candidate will be placed higher in the merit.

(ii) If the tie still persists, it is resolved by referring to the alphabetical order (in English) of the names of the candidates.
