Noted Singer Sangeetha Sajith Passes Away at 46, Was Suffering from Kidney Ailment

Sangeeta Sajith, who sang over 200 songs for Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada industries, breathed her last this morning after suffering from kidney ailment.

Sangeeta Sajith, who lent her voice to songs in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu films, is no more. The eminent singer passed away today at her sister’s residence in Thiruvananthapuram after suffering from kidney-related ailments. She was 46 years old.

Sangeeta, who recently sang the theme song of Prithviraj starrer Kuruthi, was undergoing treatment for kidney-related ailments at her sister’s house. However, on Sunday morning she lost the battle of life.
Sangeeta’s last rites will take place on Sunday evening at the Shantikavadam public crematorium in Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram.

Sangeeta sang more than 200 songs in South Industry films. She has been a part of Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu film industries. His Tamil song, Mr Romeo’s Thannirai Kathalikum, composed by AR Rahman, was well received. His other recent popular songs include Thalam Poyi Thappum Poyi from Ayyappanam Koshiyum and Alare Govinda from Kakkakuyil. Odathandil Thalam Kottam from the film Pajjassi Raja and ‘Dhoom Dhoom Dooreyetho’ from Rakkilipattu were also huge hits.

Sangeeta sang ‘Jnanapazhthe pizhinth’ in front of the then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa at the Tamil Nadu government’s film awards ceremony. According to a report in The New Indian Express, she was so impressed that he presented her a gold necklace of 10 sovereigns.
