A teen was killed and another injured in a shootout by a classmate at an Oklahoma high school homecoming football game Friday night, police said.
Violence broke out at McAllen High School in Tulsa during a junior varsity football game against Miami, according to police and the school’s website.
When police arrived at around 10 p.m., they found a 17-year-old boy dead from a gunshot wound on the school tennis court, Tulsa Police Capt. told Fox News 23.
A second 17-year-old was taken to hospital in critical condition, but has since improved and is now stable.
The school was celebrating its homecoming weekend when chaos broke out, According to the school site.
The shooting suspect, whom police believe to be a 17-year-old, fled the scene and was still open early Saturday.
Tulsa Police Department Police Chief Wendell Franklin Tulsa residents warned To stay away from the high school and its surrounding area as police investigate and turn to “potentially many” victims.
“We are hopeful that some of the hundreds of people here will come forward and help with this investigation,” the police requested.
Murder for Tulsa is the 60th of the year and the second of the day.
On Friday morning, Cameron Williams allegedly shot her stepfather and led the police for nearly 9 hours.
He was eventually arrested after being caught hiding inside a business center maintenance room.
