According to a report, Mackenzie Scott, the ex-wife of billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, filed for divorce for the second time on Monday.
Scott, a billionaire philanthropist, is ending his marriage to former science teacher Dan Jewett after less than two years the couple got married quietly In March 2021, according to a court filing Retrieved by The New York Times.
Jewett – who taught at the prestigious school Scott and Bezos’s children attended – did not oppose the divorce, according to the documents. A premarital agreement had already decided who would get what in a divorce.
Scott’s second divorce comes three years after she and Bezos announced their breakup after a quarter century together. The couple has four children together.
As the Times reports, prior to her divorce from Jewett, Scott began scouting mentions of her on his online profile.
Her profile on the Giving Pledge, a website where billionaires promise to give half of their fortune before they die, no longer links to a profile for Jewett. A photo of the couple together has been replaced with a headshot of Scott.
Jewett is no longer mentioned in her Amazon author bio and she inadvertently removed her name from a Medium post she wrote about her philanthropic gifts last year.
Scott, who became the 12th richest person in the world after inheriting half of Bezos’s wealth in his divorce, has avoided media attention, while not normally seen among philanthropists.
