Georgia mother Debbie Collier appeared calm and fearless during a visit to Family Dollar within 24 hours of her sudden death, officials said Monday, as mystery deepened in the disturbing murder case.
Collier was reported missing on September 10, the same day she entered the store in Clayton before 3 p.m., according to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, which released surveillance footage of the outing.
Footage from the shopping trip shows Collier bought several items from the store and was in and out within 15 minutes, According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
According to the AJC, the sheriff’s office said, “In the video, the victim appears to be calm and not afraid of anything.” Police said she was allegedly alone in her SUV when she went to the shop.
Collier was found dead in a ravine 60 miles from his Athens home on September 11, after he wired his daughter $2,385 with the alarming message, “They won’t let me go, love you. “
Officials said the store is about 13 miles north of the wooded area where Collier was found, who now believe he died between 12:44 p.m. the next day, Sept. 10.
Inside the chain store before his death, he bought a tarp, a torch lighter, a rain poncho and a reusable tote bag, the sheriff’s office said, According to NBC News.
The news outlet reported that his body was found along with a red tote bag and a blue tarp, but it was not clear whether these were items purchased for family dollars.
