According to reports, a 39-year-old woman who was taking a dip in South Africa early in the morning was attacked by a great white shark.
Local officials and eyewitnesses said the victim, who was from Cape Town, was on the shores of a group swimming in shallow water in Pettenberg Bay in the Western Cape province when the shark came from the deep end and bit her.
“It was a bit cloudy, but some sunshine was out, and some people were diving early because the temperature was too hot,” said a witness. according to the mirror.

The report said that the rescue team found the body of the woman about 50 feet away from the shore.
South Africa’s National Sea Rescue Institute said in a statement: “Following reports of a shark incident at Central Beach, NSRI Pettenburg Bay and police services were activated at 07:53 am.”
“On arrival at the scene, the body of a 39-year-old woman from Cape Town was recovered from the water and brought to the beach.”
Authorities closed beaches in the area in response to the incident, which was Plettenberg Bay’s second shark-related death in three months.
The NSRI statement said that the local government is currently studying the potential shark barrier at the location.
