The 35-day training camp of Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist wrestler Bajrang Punia in the US ahead of the Commonwealth Games was approved by the Mission Olympic Unit (MOC) of the Ministry of Sports. The Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) will cover Bajrang’s travel, accommodation and daily expenses for the training camp in Michigan, USA, from June 25 to July 30. TOPS will also bear the expenses of his personal coach and physio.
g Punia will get help from this camp in the preparation of Commonwealth Games and World Championship. The MoC also approved financial assistance for the acquisition of two T20 Proteam Look TT track bikes for TOPS development cyclists Ronaldo Singh and David Beckham.
These are the new range of track bikes which were used by the French national team in the Tokyo Olympics. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) said, “These bikes are very light and ‘aerodynamically’ very effective.” This will help the players in the preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

It also approved financial assistance for country’s top table tennis player Sharath Kamal for the fees of his support staff, fitness training, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, fitness related tests and nutrition. Financial assistance was also approved for shooter Anish Bhanwala for 20 days overseas training and tournament in Germany.
