On April 29, the ministry had launched the pilot phase of Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) in five cities.
ONDC is a UPI-type protocol and the entire exercise is aimed at expanding the reach of the fast-growing e-commerce sector to far-flung areas, helping small retailers and reducing the dominance of online giants.
According to the ministry, these applications have successfully completed a large number of transactions in the ONDC network during the pilot phase.
“A total of seven companies have developed their own ONDC friendly app with the adoption of ONDC report. It has one buyer side, five sales side and one app providing logistics service.
This information was given during the meeting of the ONDC Advisory Council chaired by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal to review the progress made in the project.
